Educational information only

The site explains observing technologies, circulation modelling and map interpretation. It does not provide live measurements, official forecasts, navigational charts, vessel routing, emergency communications or professional advice. Illustrative diagrams are conceptual, not measured datasets. Photographs provide context and do not prove participation in a particular mission or programme.

Do not rely on this resource for navigation, search and rescue, offshore operations, swimming, diving, voyage planning or other safety-critical decisions. Use current authoritative marine information and suitably qualified local advice. Contact appropriate emergency services when assistance is needed; this site is not monitored for emergencies.

Accuracy and availability

We aim for clear and accurate explanations, but scientific understanding, instruments and products change. Simplifications may not apply to a particular region, depth or purpose. We do not promise that the content is complete, current, uninterrupted or free from errors. We may revise or remove material and change or discontinue tools. Please report a suspected error with the relevant page and supporting evidence.

Permitted use and intellectual property

You may read the site and make reasonable personal or classroom use of short excerpts with attribution and a link to the relevant page, subject to applicable law and any third-party rights. This does not grant a licence to republish substantial parts of the site, reuse photographs or imply our endorsement. Contact us about broader republication. Third-party names, images, documentation and datasets remain subject to their respective rights and licences.

Do not misuse the website by attempting unauthorised access, introducing malicious code, disrupting delivery or using our content to impersonate an official marine service. Nothing here restricts uses that applicable copyright exceptions or other mandatory law allow.

Links to research programmes and data providers are supplied for context. We do not control their availability, accuracy, security or terms. Palszap Bamboo Towr is independent and is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by NASA, NOAA, CNES, Argo, Copernicus Marine, ECMWF or other named organisations merely because they appear in our explanations.

Field-note tool and correspondence

The composer constructs a plain-text note locally. Copy and download actions do not send it, and no successful action means that we received a message. You are responsible for reviewing the note, saving any needed copy and choosing whether to send it separately. Browser permissions, device settings or unavailable JavaScript may prevent a tool feature from working.

Do not send unlawful material, confidential third-party information or unnecessary sensitive personal data. Sending a correction does not guarantee a reply, publication or change.
